CONSULTING ROLE

Asset Manager.

An asset manager plans how technical, physical and digital assets are used, maintained and renewed. Vehicles, infrastructure, equipment and IT systems call for different experience, but decisions often balance function, cost, risk and lifespan. We help you find expertise suited to your assets and the investment and management decisions ahead.

THE ROLE’S RESPONSIBILITIES

How this role can
contribute to your assignment.

01

Strategic asset planning

Plans maintenance, renewal and retirement of technical assets. Links investment to asset condition and the function operations need to maintain, taking future needs into account.

02

Portfolio and allocation

Maps the asset portfolio and the allocation of equipment, systems and maintenance. Identifies critical dependencies and capacity needs, recommending priorities within agreed financial limits.

03

Risk assessment

Assesses risks based on asset condition, function and technical dependencies. Recommends action and tracks risk with operations, maintenance and other responsible functions.

04

Financial analysis

Calculates acquisition, operating, maintenance and retirement costs. Compares lifecycle options and states uncertain assumptions so decision-makers can weigh costs against function and risk.

05

External developments and markets

Monitors technology, spare-parts availability and supplier lifecycle notices. Analyses their implications for continued use and prepares choices between upgrades, replacement and changes to maintenance.

06

Dialogue and decision support

Presents asset data, analysis and options to decision-makers. Clarifies the decisions needed and who owns information and follow-up when plans change.

07

Sustainability and responsibility

Assesses resource use, repairability, reuse and lifespan in investment and maintenance decisions. Relates options to asset use and the organisation’s own goals and measures.

08

The lifecycle of physical assets

Plans maintenance and renewal of vehicles, infrastructure and equipment. Brings together condition, documentation and lifecycle requirements and prepares operational handover around capacity and continuity needs.
